Maize production –For beginners / pro -- “commercial farming”

Maize production has gone wild all over the world; it is one of the most important grains in the world used in production of many consumable goods.

I consider Maize production as a quick and steady income for farmers / investors, because maize is a very important carbohydrate that can be converted to different forms of food for the world, it is highly required by industries (beer), feed mill  in production of Livestock feeds, used for pop corn e.t.c.

To start Maize Production the following are the core consideration co

·       Method of propagation:  Maize can be propagated by seed  : Recommended -- 2- 3 seeds per hole.

·       Soil requirement :  Only  two type of soil is recommended which is SANDY SOIL OR LOAMY SOIL.

·       Seed population : seed population and seed rate should be recommended by Farm consultant.

·        Time of planting:  It is advisable to Plant when the rain is steady,  planting seeds may be after 3 -4 continuous.

·       Land Clearing / Preparation : The clearing/preparation method of Land varies; it can be done mechanically or manually depending on the size of the farmland, after clearing It is advisable to burn. –Farm consultant enlighten you properly—

·       Control of Weed: control of weed should be done to avoid competition,  first 3 weeks after planting --weed--  after first weeding ,  farmer should monitor the weed. Control of weed can be either Manual or Chemical weeding
